Wind Symphony Dress/Tux Return All musicians in Wind Symphony will return their tux by Friday, May 17th. All clothes need to be dry-cleaned or the student will be charged to have them cleaned. When returning your dress/tux, please attach your name to the hanger.
Juries On Monday, May 13th we will begin our final jury performances. Juries are playing tests that will be performed in front of one of the lesson teachers for a test grade. All students will be assigned to a day to perform with one of the lesson teachers. We understand that AP exams begin on Monday - if you have a conflict with your scheduled time (which will be posted early next week), please see Mrs. B.
This year, all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in winds and brass will play the following:
Concert Band & Symphonic Band -first four lines of the ILMEA scale sheet -first two lines of the SECOND etude
Wind Symphony -first four lines of the ILMEA scale sheet -first four lines of the SECOND etude
All Seniors You may choose at least two minutes of whatever music you'd like to play. This can be current band repertoire, past (or current) etudes, or solo work.

Banquet Our annual music department banquet is on May 22nd. This is a fantastic event where we celebrate all students and everything they've accomplished this school year and over their high school careers. I've invited you to fill out a form:
The Hinsdale South Music Boosters are pleased to invite you to the 2019 Spring Banquet! This event is to celebrate all the Hinsdale South Music Department students in Band, Choir and Orchestra, especially the Class of 2019.
For the first time, in addition to awards and recognition, the Music Boosters will be hosting a raffle and silent auction. Come join us for this great event! Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend with their music student. See you there!

Graduation Hinsdale South's graduation is on May 23rd in the stadium and all students will perform. In case of inclement weather, it will be in the gym. Call time is 5:45pm for that event and dress is classy (no jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, tennis shoes, etc.).
Memorial Day Our performance for Memorial Day is a little over a month away! We will perform at Darien Community Park. Call time for that event is 10:15am. Dress for this is black dress pants and the music department t-shirt. Students will need their marching instruments and we will pass out the music for this event.
Marching Band Our annual marching band camp for the 2019-2020 school year is Friday, July 26th (leadership, freshmen, drumline, and color guard) and Monday, July 29th through August 2nd from 8am-6pm. Leadership will be choosing the theme of the show before the end of the school year.
Jazz Band Jazz Band 1 will rehearse Wednesdays and Fridays. Jazz Band 2 will rehearse Tuesdays and Thursdays. Combo will rehearse Monday’s at 8am. Please be to class on time on the days you rehearse. We will add sectional days as needed. Please see jazz ensemble page rosters for seating.
Freshmen Lessons All freshmen are required to sign up for two lessons each quarter with Mrs. Baxmeyer to receive an A. Lesson signups for the last two weeks are outside of her door in the band hallway.
If a student is interested in pursuing honors or taking lessons from our lesson teachers, they need to sign up on the list in the band room by the uniform room, which is for the individual lesson teacher and not Mrs. Baxmeyer.
Equipment Reminder that all students need to be taking care of getting equipment for their instruments. All of this equipment can be purchased at Quinlan & Fabish off of Plainfield Road. The required equipment includes:
REED INSTRUMENTS -2 to 3 working reeds at all times -a reed guard -swab
