Concert Band Please see Ensembles -> Concert Band for seating audition results. Congratulations to all, I'm proud of how well you played!
Looking Ahead Here are some quickly approaching dates to keep in mind: Friday, October 19th: Football game AT Hinsdale Central High School Th.-Sun. November 1-4: Chicago, the musical Saturday, November 10th: District 1 Jazz Festival (for those students who were selected from district jazz auditions) Saturday, November 17th: District 1 Festival (for those students who were selected from district auditions) Wednesday, December 5th: Holiday Concert
Honors All honors students have been sent the Honors Google doc (see below). They will complete the requirement throughout the course of the year. All students are required to take lessons each quarter. Please have these the choices on your Google Docs filled out by the end of the week.
Wind Symphony students will re-audition on the Cycle 1 music in January. Additionally, all students will have the opportunity to audition in January for acceptance into Wind Symphony.
Jazz Band Jazz Band 1 will rehearse Wednesdays and Fridays. Jazz Band 2 will rehearse Tuesdays and Thursdays. Combo will rehearse Monday’s at 8am. Please be to class on time on the days you rehearse. We will add sectional days as needed. Please see jazz ensemble page rosters for seating.
Freshmen Lessons All freshmen are required to sign up for three lessons each quarter with Mrs. Baxmeyer to receive an A. Lesson signups for the last two weeks are outside of her door in the band hallway.
If a student is interested in pursuing honors or taking lessons from our lesson teachers, they need to sign up on the list in the band room by the uniform room, which is for the individual lesson teacher and not Mrs. Baxmeyer.
Equipment Reminder that all students need to be taking care of getting equipment for their instruments. All of this equipment can be purchased at Quinlan & Fabish off of Plainfield Road. The required equipment includes:
REED INSTRUMENTS -2 to 3 working reeds at all times -a reed guard -swab

Marching Band Shoes If your student ordered new marching shoes, please send a check to HSHS for $29. Thanks.
Private Lessons We have outstanding lesson teachers here at Hinsdale South. Our outstanding school and department are great supporters of the music department. It is really important for you to take advantage of the excellent lesson teachers that have been made available to you. Lessons are very affordable, only costing you between $12-16 per 1/2 hour lesson. If you would like more information about our lesson teachers, please feel free to email or call me. Your student can just sign up for a lesson on the sheets right outside Mrs. Baxmeyer’s office door.
