Patrick Maag was named Director of Bands at Hinsdale South High School in May of 2009 and the department chair in 2014. He grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois and received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Illinois State University and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from Northeastern Illinois University. Prior to his appointment at Hinsdale South, Mr. Maag was the Director of Bands at Waukegan High School in Waukegan, Illinois from 2002-2009. In his time at Waukegan High School, he directed the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Bulldogs, Bulldog Big Band and Bulldog pep band. The Waukegan High School bands received awards for outstanding performance in marching, concert and jazz performances. His groups regularly earned division I ratings at IHSA contests. His bands performed at Walt Disney World, the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade, CBS evening news and at a Chicago Rush arena football game. The Hinsdale South High School concert band earned top honors at the ISU state of Illinois Concert Band Contest in 2011 and the HSHS Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble earned division I ratings at the 2010 IHSA State Contest. The Concert Band and Symphonic Band earned division I rankings at the 2013 IHSA State Contest. Mr. Maag has judged solo and group contests in Illinois and has been a guest conductor for various ensembles in Lake County and DuPage County. He lives in Des Plaines with his wife Jessica and his three daughters, Ella, Katy and Maggie.

An Illinois native, Mrs. Baxmeyer graduated with a Bachelor of Music cum laude from St. Olaf College in Instrumental Music Education. She was a member of the St. Olaf Band, traveled to Japan, Florida, and California for performance tours, and served as President during her senior year. After college, she student taught in southeastern Minnesota with Mr. Peter Guenther at Owatonna High School before filling in for a maternity leave at Watertown-Mayer, a suburban high school west of the twin cities. During the spring she worked with two concert bands, the pep band, and both the middle school and high school Percussion Ensembles.
Mrs. Baxmeyer moved to Wisconsin to become the Director of Bands at Brillion High School. There, she directed two concert bands, pep band, designed field shows for the marching band, traveled with the jazz band to the Eau Claire Jazz Festival, and toured with the marching band in Disney World. Under her direction, several soloists and small ensembles earned top honors at the district and state level competitions.
Mrs. Baxmeyer joined the Hinsdale South band program in 2014. At South, she directs the Wind Symphony, Concert Band, Symphonic Percussion, Concert Percussion, pep band, marching band, teaches AP Music Theory, Advanced Piano/Composition, and directs the pit orchestra. The band has performed at the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade and traveled to Walt Disney World and New York City, where they rehearsed with Michael Adelson of the New York Philharmonic. In April of 2018, the Wind Symphony will be traveling to Chicago's Symphony Center to clinic and perform with renowned composer, Frank Ticheli. Additionally, in 2018 Mrs. Baxmeyer was selected to conduct the pit orchestra for the Illinois All-State Musical, Big Fish.
Mrs. Baxmeyer has served as a guest clinician around Illinois and has attended several conducting symposiums, including those at the University of Minnesota, Michigan, and Temple University, In her spare time, she enjoys running, cooking, and spending time with her husband, John, and two dogs, Tucker and Pepper. Currently, Mrs. Baxmeyer is finishing her Masters Degree in Instrumental Music Education at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.
